Accountability in the Perspective of Malaysian Governance

Generally, the concept of responsibility from the perspective of governance is the means to control people administration in democratic countries. The classification of public accountability is usually seen in terms of exterior and internal mechanisms. Consequently, this daily news shall go over both mechanisms with special reference to Malaysia. The discussion also focuses on the limitation of each and every mechanism which in turn rendered a lot of problems for the concept of accountability in Malaysia. Keywords: Answerability, Governance, Open public administration, 1 ) Introduction Accountability is often associated with such ideas as answerability, responsibility, blameworthiness, liability and also other terms linked to the expectation of accounting (Note 1). In politics, especially in the representative democratic system, responsibility is a important factor in determining good governance, and hence the legitimacy of power. The election of state staff requires a responsible attitude towards the public (Abd Aziz, 2003: 68) (Note 2). Consequently , every action that has been used needs to be explained to the public or maybe the local community.
